LION
De Vi Extrema — Strategic Leadership Under Maximum Pressure
Codex Synergiae · Plate XI-B

The higher-difficulty tier. For teams that have completed TIGER and are ready for maximum pressure.

LION operates at the extreme edge of institutional resilience. Two scenarios — Broken Arrow and Black Cathedral — each designed to expose the fault lines that only appear when every resource is committed and every margin for error has been consumed.

Sub pressione maxima character revelatur — under maximum pressure, character is revealed
SALIGIA Professional Development

TIGER asks how a group works together under pressure. LION asks what kind of leader you are when it matters most.

What LION does

Strategic leadership
made visible.

LION does not test whether senior leaders can make good decisions in comfortable conditions. It tests whether they can make defensible decisions under conditions of genuine uncertainty, political pressure, and cascading consequence — and whether the decisions they make are consistent with the values they hold and the positions they took before the pressure arrived.

The Strategic Readiness Assessment is written and signed in Phase I. It is collected, sealed, and returned unedited in Phase III — alongside the Post-Incident Leadership Report. What you wrote before the crisis, and what you did during it, are placed next to each other.

That is the mechanism. Not feedback. Evidence.

The Two Challenges

Two scenarios.
Different dimensions of the same demand.

LION 1 · Entry Challenge
Broken Arrow

A single catastrophic threat under extreme time compression. The authority problem. The accountability trap. Two names required on a recommendation with permanent consequences. The question of who decided — and what that means.

LION 2 · Advanced Challenge
Black Cathedral

A compounding disaster. Four simultaneous crises. A structural risk that was flagged and never actioned — and a signed accountability record that must name who was responsible. Higher complexity. Greater individual exposure.

The Leadership Framework

Six dimensions.
Observed across the full day.

Facilitators observe against six named leadership dimensions — with timestamped, role-attributed evidence throughout all four phases. The debrief names what was seen. Not impressions. Evidence.

01
Strategic Foresight

Did you anticipate the consequences in Phase I that shaped Phase II performance?

02
Decision Velocity

Did you move at the speed the situation required — neither too fast nor too slow?

03
Information Discipline

Did you distinguish evidence from assumption throughout the day?

04
Accountability Ownership

Did you put your name on hard calls — or find reasons to defer, delegate, or avoid?

05
Communication Under Pressure

Did your communication quality hold as stakes rose?

06
Ethical Coherence

Were your values consistent across the day — or did they shift under pressure?

What the mechanism reveals under maximum stress

LION is not harder than TIGER because the scenarios are more dramatic. It is harder because the space for error has been removed. Every decision has a cost. Every delay has a consequence. Every resource committed is a resource unavailable for the next crisis.
